16/05/2019 – 15/06/2019, Institut français Milano, Milan
Curators: Claudia Buizza and Pietro Della Giustina
Curate It Yourself is pleased to present in collaboration with the Institut français Milano, the first solo exhibition in Italy of the Japanese-French artist collective COMPOSIT.
The exhibition’s title derives from the site-specific installation Canopia, conceived and developed during a research residence at the Villa Carlotta (Tremezzina, CO). Combining sculptural, sound and water elements, Canopia stages a secret, mechanical and multisensory garden, an apocalyptic and fictitious landscape, in which natural and artificial elements coexist by immersing the viewer in an atmosphere of intimate contemplation and reflection on the relationship between man and nature, artifice and reality, technology and enchantment.
In collaboration with La Francia in Scena. La Francia in Scena, the artistic season of the Institut Français-Italia, is an initiative of the Italian French Embassy, with the support of the Institut Français and the Fondazione Nuovi Mecenati.
The exhibition is made possible through the generous support of Crédit Agricole Italia, in addition to a collaboration with the Villa Carlotta and the patronage of the Consolato Generale del Giappone a Milano.
Opening Reception : 6.30 PM – 9.00 PM Thursday 16 May, 2019
